My name is Samuel White, Jr., a senior Business Administration major, with a concentration in Management at Morehouse College, and this summer I was blessed with a phenomenal internship. Working with the Morehouse College Entrepreneurship Center (MCEC) has allowed me to experience various opportunities that I would not have experienced elsewhere.

In addition to building time management skills, and relationships, I was able to gain real-world perspectives that could not be obtained solely in the classroom.

Specifically, I was tasked to assist Ms. Sheila Thornton, Subject Matter Expert with the ISO 27000 certification for Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services protégé, EmagineIT in Fairfax, Virginia under the Department of Defense (DoD) Mentor Protégé Program. This particular experience allowed me to see the intricacies of the internal auditing process as well as watch several ISO concepts that I was introduced to through the MCEC being applied in the workplace. As a result, I can now actively engage in conversations regarding the appropriate levels of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information associated with this quality standard.

In addition to learning ISO standards and procedures, I also had the opportunity to gain insight on CMMI practices while accompanying Dr. Tiffany Bussey on an Executive Overview for Lewis Innovation Technologies in Alabama. The one day training was insightful especially because it allowed me to compare and contrast the differences between ISO standards and CMMI, which is a model of what organizations should do in order to improve their performance. In short, witnessing the consulting processes at Emagine IT and Lewis Innovation Technologies enabled me to accumulate knowledge in the field, acquire new skills, and gain a better understanding of the Process Improvement career path. I am extremely grateful to have been afforded the chance to take part in such an exceptional internship! The MCEC really seeks that special student to afford them experiences with lifetime returns on investment.
